For family adventures and everyday independence
GPS Tracking for Families
Know where they are. No phone needed.
A small, screen-free tracker your child carries on the ski slopes, the bike trail or the walk home from school. You follow them live on your phone, and only the people you choose can see where they are.
- Works on its own: no phone to carry, nothing to pair, and no phone needed nearby. The tracker sends its own location
- A discreet SOS button that alerts you in the app, then by text and phone call
- Share with trusted adults: a partner, grandparents, or other parents on a group trip, for as long as you choose
- Only pay when you use it: pause between trips for £1.00 a month
- No phone needed
- No contracts
- No public links
Trusted by schools, ski schools, adventure centres, Scouts and Cadets
Made for real family life
From the ski slopes to the school gate
MeiliGPS was built for schools and outdoor leaders responsible for other people's children. The same tracker gives parents the same peace of mind.
- Adventure holidaysSkiing, snowboarding, mountain biking or scrambling: when children head off ahead, or take a different run, you can see exactly where they are, often even where phones struggle for signal.
- The walk to schoolAs more UK schools go phone-free, primary-age children can walk to school or catch the bus without a smartphone. Check from work that they've made the bus and are on their way home.
- Group and family tripsOn a multi-family ski week or an activity holiday, share each child's location with the other parents or grandparents, just for the trip.
An independent tracker, not a phone accessory. MeiliGPS sends its own location over long-range mobile networks. It doesn't need to be paired with a phone, and it doesn't need a phone nearby to work.
Not a phone. Not an AirTag.
How MeiliGPS compares for families
Many parents use Bluetooth tags such as AirTags, or give a child a phone. Here's how they differ.
| Question | MeiliGPS | AirTag and other Bluetooth tags | A child's smartphone | Kids' smartwatch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Does it need a phone nearby? | No. It connects on its own and sends its location wherever there's mobile coverage | Yes. Its location only updates when a compatible phone passes within Bluetooth range | It is the phone | Models with their own SIM connect on their own |
| Live location? | Yes, live on your phone, with the route they've taken | No. You see where it was last detected | Yes, if it's switched on, charged and sharing | Usually |
| Can your child call for help? | Yes. One SOS button alerts you in the app, then by text and phone call | No | Yes, if it has signal and charge | Often |
| Screens, apps or social media? | None. No screen, no messaging and no internet | None | Yes | A screen, and usually calls and messages |
| Designed for tracking a child? | Yes. Built for schools and leaders responsible for children | No. Apple designs AirTag to find belongings, not to track people | No | Yes |
| Who can see where they are? | Only the people you invite, for as long as you choose. No public links | The owner, and anyone they share it with in their tag's app | Depends on the apps and settings on the phone | The parent's app |
| What does it cost? | Pay only for the months you use it, and pause it for the rest | No monthly fee | A monthly phone contract | Typically a monthly SIM plan |
Bluetooth tags such as AirTag report their location through nearby phones on their maker's network; Apple states that AirTag was designed to help people find their belongings, not to track people. Smartwatch and phone features vary by model and plan.
The Sharing Centre
Share with the people you trust, and nobody else
Your child's location is yours to share. Invite trusted adults by name, inside the secure MeiliGPS app, and decide what they see and for how long.
- Your partner, so you can both follow the school run
- Grandparents looking after the children for a weekend
- Other parents on a multi-family ski trip, just for that week
- Remove access at any time, and sessions end automatically when you choose
No public links, ever. There's no link that can be forwarded, so your child's location stays with the people you chose.

Questions parents ask
Does my child need a phone?
No. The tracker works on its own: it doesn't need to be paired with a phone, and it doesn't need a phone nearby. Only you, and the adults you invite, use the MeiliGPS app.
How is it different from an AirTag?
An AirTag only updates its location when a compatible phone passes within Bluetooth range, so on a quiet hillside or a ski slope it may not update at all. MeiliGPS sends its own live location over mobile networks, and has an SOS button. Apple also states that AirTag was designed to find belongings, not to track people.
Can my child take it to a phone-free school?
The tracker has no screen, no calls, no messages and no internet, so it isn't a phone. School policies vary, so check with your child's school.
What happens if my child presses SOS?
They hold the button for ten seconds, which prevents accidental alerts. You get an alert in the app with their position, then a text and a phone call if you don't respond. The tracker buzzes when you acknowledge it, so your child knows you've seen it.
Can grandparents or other parents see where my child is?
Only if you invite them. Through the Sharing Centre, you invite trusted adults by name, choose how long they can see your child's location, and remove access at any time.
Will it work on holiday abroad?
MeiliGPS trackers have been tested from the Alps to the Arctic Circle and the Rocky Mountains, as well as in Japan and New Zealand. Coverage varies by area, so ask us if you're unsure about your destination.
How long does the battery last, and is it waterproof?
Up to 14 days on a single charge, enough for a holiday week. The tracker is water resistant to IPX5, so it copes with rain, snow and splashes, but shouldn't be submerged.
Do I have to pay every month?
Only for the months you use it: £7.99 a month while it's on. For the rest of the year, pause it for £1.00 a month from your account. There are no contracts, and no fees to restart.
Is my child's location data safe?
Location data is hosted in the UK on Microsoft Azure, MeiliGPS is certified to ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus, and every account is protected by two-factor authentication. There are no public links, so nobody can see your child's location unless you invite them.
Ready for your next adventure?
Let them explore. Know where they are.
Whether they're heading off down the piste, riding ahead on the trail or walking home from school, you can see where they are on your phone, and they can alert you with one SOS button press.
